boulevard masséna
Calum O’Connell
clunking fingerweight & pianokeys,
separate hands from mouth, speak
from touch. slip through, suncaught
dust, toward fever dreams & clean
sheets, toasted bread & coffees
warbling in the duskbreak. until
we paint again, trace every circle
hourlong across our walls, faces
blushing in the lamplight—
tiptoe to semiopen windows.
(we clasp palms beside moonrays
& streetroad rustle, still ashen
in our sleep.)
